Accenture Technology Mauritius, in collaboration with the University of Mauritius (UoM) and the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), is offering about 30 professional training scholarships leading to a “Masters in Applied Software Technology.”
Accenture Mauritius, through the ‘Accenture Academy’, offers free academic training to young talent, accompanied by an internship within the company. Accenture has developed a partnership with UoM for the development of an MSc in Applied Software Technology. The six-month internship at Accenture thus complements the six-month course at UoM. The curriculum focuses on practical problem solving skills, which are in high demand in the computer industry.
“This program aims to boost the careers of young professionals by providing them with a unique learning experience in a collaborative and highly professional environment,” said Rinayah Appadoo, project manager at Accenture Mauritius. This program is also dedicated to those who wish to change their field of study by opting for computer science, a sector that is currently in great demand.
Skills in this sector are scarce, hence the objective of this program which is to address the skills gap in the computer industry. “This program also allows us to support the desired growth and fill the skills gap in the IT industry,” Appadoo said.
The academy offers an innovative learning environment to enable young talent to develop and unleash their potential in the technology and IT industry. At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to embark on a career with Accenture Mauritius.
The selection of candidates is based on a motivation interview. Candidates will be selected based on the selection criteria and the entrepreneurial spirit of Accenture Mauritius. The names of those selected will be known this month, while classes will begin in mid-January 2018. Tuition fees are funded by Accenture Mauritius and the HRDC. Candidates will also be given a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000.
Selection criteria
The program is primarily intended for graduates who want to pursue a career in the IT industry. Applicants must hold an Honours Primary Degree from a recognised university in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject.
With the creation of the Academy, Accenture is putting its educational and training potential at the service of local youth and IT professionals. This program aims to prepare candidates for the professional world through the acquisition of practical know-how in a modern technological environment. This formula also allows Accenture to train its future employees by ensuring that their skills are always relevant to client needs.
