Orange Solidarity Madagascar continues its program

Orange Solidarité Madagascar’s Digital Schools program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is continuing again this year.

Created in 2014, theOrange Solidarity Madagascar initiative aims to provide educational materials and content in digital form to students in Madagascar. In this way, it has enabled nearly 15,000 students to become familiar with digital technology. Set up in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the objective of the programme is to facilitate the impregnation of the educational programme. For this, digital content is added to primary and secondary school classrooms, adding digital content to primary and secondary classrooms through a fun yet effective ICT method. In this way, students achieve better results.

Through the Digital Schools program, Orange Madagascar wishes to commit to digital inclusion and contribute to reducing the digital divide and improving the quality of education. Finally, the company aims to promote equal opportunities for students in terms of digital education, regardless of where they live or their social background, and to cultivate the use of digital tools in schools, especially in rural areas.

Supporting schools since 2014

Thus, for nearly 8 years, some 123 schools, spread across the various regions of Madagascar, have been equipped with 6,000 tablets. In addition, during the 2019-2020 school year, as many as 15 new schools each received a digital kit. Namely that each of the kits contained. 50 tablets, 50 headsets, 2 Raspberry servers, Powerbanks, power strips, 1 video projector with 1 screen, as well as rich content already embedded in the servers. In addition, in 2014, digital schools served 20,000 students, compared to 40,000 in 2015, and over 130,000 in 2017. The first digital school of the 2021-2022 school year

For the school year 2021-2022, the school of the NGO “Ecole du Monde”, in Besely Majunga, will be the first Digital School to be deployed. As a result, the school was provided with a digital kit, and teaching staff were trained in the use of the material provided. Subsequently, 30 more schools will be involved in the initiative, and will be provided with a digital kit later this year.

The Ministry of National Education was responsible for selecting the schools to benefit from the programme. These schools are already working with Orange. In the opposite case, they are sponsored by Orange Madagascar employees or by partner associations.
