SME Mauritius signs an agreement with the Institut de la Francophonie pour l'Entrepreneuriat

On Thursday 22 November, a partnership agreement signing ceremony was held between SME Mauritius and IFE. This partnership between the two institutions demonstrates the ambition of the Mauritian State to collaborate with the private sector. This is to promote the development of training for Mauritian small and medium enterprises.

 

 

A centre of excellence for entrepreneurship

The primary goal of this partnership is to establish a centre of excellence for entrepreneurship. The idea is to promote entrepreneurial culture and build an ecosystem. Moreover, the latter will serve not only Mauritius, but also the Indian Ocean region and the African continent. Indeed, this action is an opportunity to make young people aware of entrepreneurship.

 

SME Mauritius and IFE push young people to start their own business

The Mauritian government, through SME Mauritius, and the Institut de la Francophonie pour l’Entrepreneuriat are thus giving them the necessary boost to launch themselves in this sector. Moreover, the IFE aims to offer entrepreneurs a variety of training courses that will certainly contribute to their development. Educated and skilled entrepreneurs will certainly contribute to a new dynamic of citizenship and sustained economic development.

 

Training and education: the pillars of economic development

Education and training are undoubtedly key areas. They are even the keystone of Mauritius’ economic development. Thus, it is in this perspective that SME Mauritius and IFE are collaborating to boost the SME sector. These new partners wish to transmit an entrepreneurial culture and ensure its sustainability. To achieve this, they intend to offer high quality and high level training.

 

The Francophonie Institute for Entrepreneurship

The refoundation of the Institut de la Francophonie pour l’Entrepreneuriat (IFE) follows a new agreement between the UOM, the MCCI Business School and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie. The objective of the new partnership is to establish a centre of excellence for entrepreneurship. This is done through the promotion of an entrepreneurial culture and the construction of an ecosystem. The latter should serve not only Mauritius, but also the Indian Ocean region and the African continent, particularly French-speaking Africa.

 

A partnership agreement to enhance the capacity of entrepreneurs

Minister Soomilduth Bholah, who supervised the signing of the agreement, underlined: “the memorandum of understanding to be signed today by SME Mauritius and IFE will enable the training of entrepreneurs by enhancing their capacity to improve the performance of their businesses. Furthermore, Jacques d’Unienville, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFE adds that “educated and qualified entrepreneurs remain the promise of a new citizen dynamic and a sustained economic development.”

 

The benefits of this partnership between SME Mauritius and IFE

The purpose of the agreement between MCCI, UOM andAgence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) with the support of the Mauritian Ministry of Education is to build working relationships and promote interactions between the academic and business worlds, by restructuring the management and activities of IFE.
