Soon the launch of the 18th Startup Weekend Women edition

The Women’s edition of Startup Weekend will be back for the 3rd time this Friday, March 11.

A 3rd edition of this Startup Weekend

There are no less than 8 days left before the 18th edition of the Startup Weekend in Reunion Island. For the third time this event will be an edition #Women in partnership with the DRDFE (Regional Directorate for Women’s Rights and Equality) and the Region Reunion. The last edition of this event took place last year, around June. Thus, this Friday, March 11 at 18:00, will be given the top of departure of this new online Startup Weekend.

Organized in Reunion since 2011 by the association Webcup, the Startupweekend is the major event for the creation of innovative companies in Reunion. And thanks to the association, Reunion was the first French overseas territory to host this world event in Saint-Denis. Thus, after 2 successful editions, it is quite natural that this 3rd edition will take place in the calendar alongside the International Women’s Rights Day. While only 10% of startups are created by women, the ambition of this thematic event is to allow the birth of innovative local business, while allowing our women la kour to be able to develop their ideas, and to concretize them by forming a viable project.

21 project leaders

On February 24, no less than 21 project leaders took part in the difficult exercise of “pitching” their idea for one minute. Subsequently, 10 projects were selected by a jury of experts. If the theme of Startup Weekend Women allows women to boost their project, the format remains mixed. Indeed, the teams are composed of women and men who put their skills at the service of a local project for a whole weekend.

At the Startupweekend, idea holders have 1 minute to convince the jury to select their project. After that, they have to convince the other participants to vote for their idea, and to join their team. Then, 54 hours of work followed, marked by conferences and the intervention of specialized coaches. Then, at the end of these 54 hours, the teams present a viable startup model to a jury of experts.

Throughout the weekend, coaches will be on hand to provide assistance and expertise to participants, enabling them to develop their ideas into truly innovative and profitable businesses

This 18th edition is still free and registrations for teammates are still open on the dedicated website:

After your registration, you will be invited to present your startup idea in front of a jury in one minute. A jury will then choose those who will compete in this online edition.
