WEBCUP – International Final

THE INTERNATIONAL FINAL OF THE WEBCUP WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 04, 2021

COMOROS – MADAGASCAR – MAURITIUS – MAYOTTE – REUNION – RODRIGUES

At the end of May, the regional round of the Webcup was held: 24 hours to develop a website. This international competition has been organized for more than 10 years now and gathered for its first online version more than 220 participants who came to compete for one of the 6 islands of the Indian Ocean.

“An online final, but still strong and impactful”

“Traditionally, the final is hosted by the delegation of one of the islands. Each year, the team that wins the regional round travels to the Indian Ocean to defend the colours of its territory. This year, due to the health crisis, a new online format has been developed to allow participants to showcase their talents and take advantage of the international impact of this competition. Alan Chakri, president of the Webcup association, creator and organizer of the event, tells us.

Indeed, within the teams composed of developers, UX designers, graphic designers and project managers, many talents are spotted during this competition.

The always innovative subjects and the tight timing push the teams to take up a major challenge each year: to create a website in 24 hours, often with surprise twists that push the participants’ resources to the extreme. The winners thus showcase the extent of their skills in front of a jury of international developers.

“The WOABON team representing Reunion Island…”

In 9 international finals, Reunion, the title holder, has won the competition 3 times: enough to put the pressure on Quentin and Jeremy, our local representatives. These two young talents from Reunion, then students at the Lycée Pierre Poivre, won the regional round against 15 motivated teams.

Jérémy confided to us at the prize-giving ceremony: ” This first participation allowed us to discover our skills, our limits and to challenge ourselves

They will face 5 other teams from the islands of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte and Rodrigues during this international final which will take place on Saturday 04 and Sunday 05 September.

The winning team of this competition will receive €1,000 in prizes from Orange, partner of the event.

Good luck to our representatives and put the renyon in the air!
