If we thought the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco would bring Samsung down, we were wrong, as the manufacturer’s latest Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones prove. The latest sales figures for the Galaxy S8 are enough to put a smile back on Samsung’s face, which was sorely needed. While the firm has sold five million units of the smartphone within a month of its launch, the South Korean company said the phones are selling “almost twice as fast” as its predecessors, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The good figures of their latest technological jewel gave the manufacturer the opportunity to remind its leadership in the smartphone market.
“The brand’s predecessors, the S6 and S7 have reached 100 million units sold in 75 and 74 days since their launch. The S8, on the other hand, is selling almost twice as fast as that,” a Samsung official said in a report published on The Investor.

The Galaxy S8: a success due to better quality!
We’re not going to lie, the runaway success of the S8 is not only due to the quality of the phone, but paradoxically, also to the monumental failure of the Galaxy Note 7. Regular users looking for a high-performance Android device seem to have been waiting for it. The South Korean company has managed to limit the damage to its brand image and is still a strong competitor to other manufacturers.
It is important not to get carried away with this type of announcement, as no very precise figures have been released. A spokesperson for the firm simply announced that more Galaxy S8s (and S8 Plus) were sold in a month, than Galaxy S6s and S7s in 75 days. In terms of timing, since pre-orders began in early April, Samsung has been publicly sharing key sales data on their new phone to brag about its strong performance and attract more customers. On April 9, 2017, the company said that pre-orders exceeded 550,000 units. On April 18, she went on to say that the figure had reached the 1 million mark. So, since the phone hit store shelves on April 21, the company has continued to reveal some information about its sales. Earlier this month, global sales of the phone reportedly reached five million units. Samsung noted that overseas shipments of the smartphone exceeded 10 million units.
The question now is whether the S8 family will last or whether the numbers will shrink, given that the previous model seems to be enjoying a nice “second life” with smaller budgets.
