From May 11 to 14, the Innovation and Technology Fair was held at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre (SVICC).
The SME Innovation and Technology Fair is an initiative of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Activity, Enterprise and Cooperatives. Several institutions and private associations participated in the event such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers.
The official inauguration was done by Sunil Bholal, Minister of Economic Activity, Enterprises and Cooperatives accompanied by Nandcoomar Bodha, Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation.
Indian Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Kalraj Mishra, who is visiting Mauritius, graced the ceremony with his presence, which was not fortuitous as the sector contributes to 40% of total exports from the Greater Peninsula.
He said, “We have a highly diverse SME sector and we want to work with the Mauritian government to help them, especially in terms of access to technology.”
During these three days, the 90 companies present, including many from India for the occasion, were able to establish contacts with suppliers while exploring the latest technology.
