HAINA: collaboration for the training of students

Huawei, one of the world’s leading ICT companies, signed last week a partnership with the University of Mauritius. HAINA (Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy) is a program set up by the company to enable educational institutions to provide Huawei training and certification worldwide. It is the turn of Mauritius, more precisely the University of Mauritius, to set up this program.

CSR activities to change the world

This technology company aims to connect the world and act as a facilitator-innovator for the information society. In addition to being involved in the telecom industry, operators, and for the benefit of consumers, Huawei employs over 180,000 people worldwide. Huawei is present in more than 170 countries and offers products, services and innovative ICT solutions.

In 2008, Huawei initiated the Seeds for the Future program. This initiative is one of the company’s priority CSR activities. Seeds for the Future is the project in which Huawei is invested both globally and internationally. According to Huawei, promoting ICT talent will promote economic expansion. The Seeds for the Future program works with governments, academic institutions, organizations and others. The best students are selected to receive professional training at Huawei’s headquarters in China. Through this program, students discover Chinese culture and gain experience in the world of work.

To date, Huawei works with 96 countries and more than 280 universities around the world. As many as 20,000 students have benefited from Seeds for the Future. Several countries have expressed their feelings about this programme, such as Italy.

The Italian Minister of Education said: “The collaboration with companies like Huawei and with countries like China will certainly have a return on the Italian culture, innovation and economy. This is a very innovative project involving the Italian government and Huawei. Initiatives like this show that Italy is aiming to become a true “Valley of Knowledge”.

A boon for students

Huawei Academy trains students to take on challenges, benefit from opportunities generated by the ICT industry and products developed by highly skilled engineers. HAINA tries its best to bridge the gap between the university and the industry by training competent students who will meet the expectations of employers.

Students appreciate this initiative by Huawei and several of them have given positive feedback:

“After Beijing, we went to Shenzhen. During this week, we learned a lot of Key Concepts of Telecommunications, Networking and Cloud Computing. As an ICT student, these concepts are very useful for my future and value my education. I am grateful to Huawei for their kindness and for this excellent opportunity. I hope to come back one day to learn more about this fascinating country,” says Manuel, a Spanish student.
