The very first edition of The Red Shalk took place in Madagascar. 5 startups, 6 photographers and 10 developers gathered at the IS ‘Art Galerie Ampasanimalo for the occasion. With the objective of digitalizing SMEs, this event was co-organized by 100startups.co and Passion4Humanity. This challenge was an opportunity for developers, photographers and startups to demonstrate their know-how.
A successful first edition
The Red Shalk is first and foremost an event aimed at awakening the entrepreneurial spirit. Art, culture and digital technology have been the spearheads for this. Moreover, the participants did not hesitate to attend, as 5 startups, 6 photographers and 10 developers gathered for the occasion. Dedicated to startups, it was organized by Passion 4 Humanity and 100startups.co.
Big names in the entrepreneurial scene
The young talents found themselves in front of an impressive jury. Indeed, it was composed of some of the big names of the Malagasy entrepreneurial universe. There was Rado Harintsoa Rakotosamimanana (Mentor and Coach in entrepreneurship, volunteer at 100startups.co, Social Entrepreneur), Solofo RALITERA (Vice President of TechZara) and Mirantsoa RANDRIANANDRAINA (CSR Project Manager at Orange).
Startup “Karepoka” wins first place in Red Shalk
The first place in this challenge went to the startup “Karepoka”. It specializes in the transformation of cassava into chips. However, the real innovation is its mobile application. The latter is offered to entities that want to market their products. From the process of taking orders to getting a receipt, it’s all there.
An optimized Facebook chatbot
On thesecond step of the podium, we find “Violet”. This startup presented the jury with an improved Facebook chatbot concept. Indeed, its project aims to optimize the response time of customers for recurring questions. It also includes a process for purchasing and delivering products. In addition, the “Manjary” came in3rd place in this competition. This young company relied on the combination of website / application / chatbot platforms. It also includes a “calorimetric calculation” feature. The latter allows the creation of an account for each customer as well as a loyalty points system for each purchase.
Prioritize access to Facebook
The other two project holders at the Red Shalk were “La bell’o vert” and “Ny Hanitro”. The first presented the jury with a website containing information about the startup and its activity, as well as a catalogue of its products. As for the2nd startup, it also presented the features and components of its products on its website. However, this very first edition of The Red Shalk was mostly about “prioritizing access to Facebook that is more accessible to everyone.”
Photographers in the spotlight
Moreover, the photographers were not left out during this challenge. Indeed, “Connie Mana” won the award with her photo for “Violet”. Anthony Razafimahery, for his part, climbed to the 2nd step of the podium for his work with the product of “Vici”. Finally, the 3rd place was awarded to Mamitiana Lionella. It was her photo cover of the “Manjary” product that propelled her into the top 3.
